Fiji’s COVID-contained Efforts Evident In Blue Lane Initiative
The Blue Lane initiative is a testament of how the Fijian Government has contained COVID-19.
United States Ambassador, Joseph Cella, made the remark during a discussion on Fiji’s Blue Lane initiative at Denarau, Nadi.
The Blue Lane was established for yacht and pleasure craft to enter Fiji and assist in the recovery of the ailing tourism industry.

No place like Fiji
Under the new initiative, Port Denarau Marina, in western Viti Levu is currently the only port of entry into Fiji.
Mr Cella said there was no place like Fiji to travel to, following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Many Americans had testifed to the hospitality of the Fijian Government in containing COVID-19, he said.
“There is no better place to be in this region – it is warm and safe.” Mr Cella said.
“Fiji is special and it has been successful.
“It is a winning model as long as people continue to abide by the protocol.”
“I think more people can enjoy the fruits of Blue Lane – for all the beauty and the warm Bula welcome, that is present here in Fiji.
“That is why I am here to showcase the beauty of the land, the region, and the COVID-19 contained effort done by the Government.
He said a minium of $US 5million (FJ$10.6m) was injected into the local economy following COVID-19.
